Oh, just fscking great. I post, and it somehow deletes all the posts on this thread. I think this board could do with a little fixing. Kid, if you wouldn't mind.

Just watching Xplay.
They were talking of the Hot Coffee mod, and had a short rant about how these games shouldn't be in the hands of young people anyway. They also did a little parody of Jack Thompson by saying Ridge Racer is tearing apart our moral fabric by conditioning kids to drive fast.
They also attacked Hillary Clinton. Adam said it best: this is how the Democrats spend their time when there isn't an election for them to lose.

Hell yeah. Anyway, I think I'll have to try posting that Ctl+Alt+Dlt comic again. Here goes:

Ha! --- For anyone who hasn't seen this topic, we were dicussing Jack Thompson, primarily (www.stopkill.com jackpeace@comcast.net). Here's a Q/A he did that LB brought up some good points against: www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/02/24/tech/gamecore/main676446.shtmlUnfortunately, that seems to have disappeared. This is an excellent link here: gr.bolt.com/articles/violence/violence.htmAnway, this annoyed me a little: Take-Two Interactive wasn't the only organization in the Hot Coffee hot seat this past week. The industry-supported Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) took almost as much heat over the sex-infused mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as the game's publisher.
An arm of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the ESRB came in for some harsh criticism since the mod was publicized. Some politicians accused the board of colluding with the publisher, which pays dues to the ESA, which in turn supports the ESRB. In the case of the Hot Coffee mod, the ESRB was singled out by some as being deferential to ESA members and failing to act swiftly to investigate and possibly censure Rockstar Games, the Take-Two subsidiary that shed and developed San Andreas. What could they do? They rated the game fairly, what else do you expect? I still don't understand why it is AO anyway. This is the Sims 2 story: www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07/22/news_6129609.htmland this also annoyed me: It's not just the adults that are liberated from their wardrobes. Sims kids can also be nudified, "much to the delight, one can be sure, of pedophiles around the globe who can rehearse, in virtual reality, for their abuse." Even if the kids were actually nude (which they aren't) you can't "prepare" anything. The kid may be naked, but you can't abuse him/her or do anything of the sort. So, what he should have said was "pedophiles around the globe can look at a naked child in this game, though they could find real nudity for free, without searching for codes, on the internet. They sure as hell can't do anything resembling abusing achild in this game." These are the kinds of ignorance and half truths that we have to fight against. An example is from a recent usatoday article: "There is no doubting the fact that the widespread availability of sexually explicit and graphically violent video games makes the challenge of parenting much harder," It's 1 sticker! 1 letter! How is that challenging? It has the ratings all over the box and all over the stores. Is it really that hard? I do realize that this post is a very random mess of links. I also realize that it isn't really "videogame violence" we are talking about anymore. Unfortunately, I can't change the topic title. When everyone gets back, we'll all be able to discuss these random links. Hurrah!

Well, I'm posting here, for it's supposed to be fixed. So, I'll now post. A lot.
Hell yes, ha! It's great!
Now, about everything else.
Jack has yet to respond to the e-mail I sent him. I'll mail him a letter next, and see if that works. I am not, however, going to put up all those points I had before. It's a shame that they where deleted, but I'm not spending another half hour doing that.
As for the GR article, EX-FUCKING-ACTLY! I'll print it up, and send it to Jack.
Just wondering, but since when can the company be credible for user-created data? If that's true, just about every game out there should be rated AO. Warcraft 3, for instance, has user created porn on it. (And it's really annoying that people insist on watching it too. Lags Battle.net like crazy.) And GTA:SA is AO because of all the pressure put on ESRB. If they had their way, they probably would have just put a warning on the box.
Now, about the Sims 2 stuff. You have to be seriously messed up to use those mods. Kids don't do that kind of stuff. Not when real porn is so easy to get. The people that do that are pretty much all over 25, and seriously messed up in the head, anyway.
That really annoys me too. There are no sexually explicit games that aren't rated AO. Graphically violent, that's basically everything besides Pong and Tetris. 'Graphically violent,' I don't like that phrase. Graphically means visualy. So, visualy violent. There are paintings that are visualy violent. I don't see people wanting to ban these. Also, it's not the games you should be worrying about for the sexual stuff. It's not hard for kids to look at porn on the internet when their parents aren't watching.

Hopefully nobody here has been sending very unpleasant emails.
Out of interest, could anything be done to someone who doesn't live in America for random threats?

Well, I'm not going to send him anything remotely threatening. And I haven't sent him anything threatening either.
As for your question, probably. I wouldn't suggest doing it.

Yeah, I saw what Scott said on his webcomic.
And yes I do remeber the interview. I've already read that one, and the one that Scott did.
