Cain hurried up the Madisson, and grabbed his shoulder. "What happened to the Ensign?" he replied firmly.
Madisson stopped, and took a deep breath. "I am no Doctor. I couldn't save him..."
The rest of the journey was in silence. Madisson obviously felt guilt over his actions, though this was overshadowed by the actions that lay before him. Cain and he would need to take the lower level of Engineering within only a slender time frame before the alarm was tripped. Madisson made sure to set his phaser to maximum stun before he stopped at the access panel to Engineering.
"Through here," he whispered. Madisson waited for Cain to catch up, and then the two sprung out with their weapons blazing. Cain immediately caught two Engineers as he moved from out the tube, while Madisson took out an armed guard on the upper level. Cain rolled behind a console, reset his phaser to a wide beam, and fired once again. The larger beam caught three more traitors, downing them all.
"I need a little help!" called Madisson. He was hiding behind a console, barely surviving constantly volleys of phaser fire. Cain moved from out his cover, reset his phaser to standard beam, and took out another armed guard. The phaser rifle from the said guard fell to the ground of the lower level with a clang. Cain stayed low while he moved toward it, orange light screaming past him and slashing at the consoles behind. Sparks flew from every direction, and the commotion was dizzying and disorienting. Cain managed to pop off a few more shots at his adversaries with both of his weapons, but hit no one.
Fortunately, Madisson was an excellent shot, and performed most of the work. The 3 other allies were attacking the upper level, and had entirely cleaned it out within a few seconds. Obviously this was a well planned operation.
Cain took a deep sigh to collect his thoughts while Madisson began tapping furiously at the engineering control panels. The room was littered with unconscious bodies, phasers, pieces of consoles and blood, from where once unfortunate crewmember had fallen onto his head, and dashed his skull.
"Almost done!" Madisson shouted.
Another ally approached. He was glaring at a tricorder. "I'm reading motion outside. Get ready!"
Cain took cover behind a console, and aimed his two phasers at the Engineering doors...
