Here are some general specs about the next generation for the Playstation: www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3140590&did=1As you can see, it's quite big and has an annoying Spiderman font, but it's very sleek and flashy too. Unlike the PS2, this console won't have a disk tray that moves out of the console; you just insert the disk into the slot. Also, there may be PSP to PS3 connectability somewhere down the road. As for the controller...umm...well, let's say I'd be totally hyped about the PS3 if it weren't for the fact that I'd have to play it with this thing. At least it will be wireless, though.

I want that PS3! I am addicted to games. Can't wait much longer. Too many good ps3 games scheduled for release. Killzone 2......Metal gear solid 4.......Full Auto.......tons more I can't remember right now. The playstation 3 is going to be awesome. If the graphics of ps2 games of today are great, I can imagine what the launch games for PS3 are gonna look like. We'll probably be like "THIS is the PS3 graphics?". The games are gonna be good and are gonna look good.
Who cares about what the controllers look like? I'm not gonna be complaining. If the PS3 is gonna have lots of kick ass games then I say forget what the controller looks like. If I am going to have tons of fun playing next gen PS3 games then the controller doesnt matter. As long as the buttons work and do what they're supposed to then its fine with me.

Yeah, but don't you think that controller will be hard to use?
I agree with the graphics. They are going to be so damn great.
Also, doesn't anyone think that this generation of gaming isn't really over yet? My PS2 is still fine and delivers a good performance. I don't want to shell out another $300 or whatever for the system plus increasingly expensive games.
That said, I hope all the PS2 games will go down in price a lot so I can go on a buying streak when the PS3 comes out.

Yeah the PS2 still delivers great performance and great games. I heard the PS3 is going to be $400 and then you have to add in tax which varies depending on where you live. I've saw on some websites that all PS3 launch games are either going to be $60 or $70. Too damn expensive! New PS2 games are $50 and from what I hear, NO ps3 games will be $50, they are all gonna be $60 and above.
Having new PS2 games at $50 is bad, but the games are good. Having PS3 games being $60 or more is going to be a bit much. Eventually when the price of the PS3 goes down then I'll probably get one. I don't really plan on shelling out $400 plus tax and then at least another $60 for one game, (for a total of over $500) just to get a PS3. I'm definitely gonna have to wait for price drops which most likely won't happen until at least a year or more. I can wait that long. That way if I wait a year for a price drop, more PS3 games will be available and hopefully better ones. Games like Killzone 2, hopefully a next gen Grand Theft Auto, maybe a new Twisted metal, a new hot shots golf perhaps.
Games are getting more expensive to make so it does make sense that the games are gonna be over $60. A lot of people probably will just go and shell out the money for a new PS3 and for a few games. I'm sure Madden 06 is going to be sold out for a while. Madden has always been popular so I'm sure a lot of people will get that.
Anyways, I do plan on getting the Playstation 3. Just not right away. It's going to be expensive and most likely the launch games I want will be sold out anyways. I won't rush out first day to get one since there won't be any. Theres probably gonna be hundreds, probably way more then a thousand, preorders at all the game stores near me. Even if I wanted it right away, without preordering, I'd have to wait to get it because theres gonna be just so many preorders.
If I were to win the lottery before the release date, which is not going to happen, then I'll go out and get a PS3 and a bunch of launch games. I'm not gonna win big on scratch off tickets, nor am I gonna win the Pick 6, which is goes off like 3 times a week, its the only one we get. The big game mega millions we get some when the jackpot gets up, but we've never won. Rare occasions we'd get like $3 thats it. I think I remember 2 times on the pick 6 we won just under $100.
My PS2 will be just fine for now. They are still gonna be making new games for it so I can easily keep my PS2 and play that. After a few years and the PS3 comes out and is cheaper then I'll get it and some of the launch games which had better be $20 or less after a year of waiting.

Out of interest, will it be backward compatible?
I mean, that was probably what saved the PS2 at the start of the console wars.

Yes. The PS3 definitely has PS2 backward compatability. However PS1 compatibility is still rumored. Also bad news if you plan on playing PS2 games on PS3. I saw on gamespot that PS2 memory cards WILL NOT work on ps3. So if you beat several PS2 games and have saved data and get a ps3 and wanna play the beaten ps2 games on ps3. Well you won't be able to. It makes you start all over at the beginning of the game. So the same would go for PS1 backward compatibility. If it has pS1 backward compatability then no memory cards can be used.
It will only use PS3 only memory cards no ps1 or ps2 which sucks. If you have backwards compatability with the games the same should go for the memory cards.

Damn, that sucks too. At least most of my libary will be still playable on the PS3, though this new memory card thing sucks.
Unless they hold a lot and sell for cheap. Then that's good.

Yes this news on the memory card issues of PS3 is very bad indeed. Just anothe reason to hang onto your PS2. At least with that you'll still be able to use your memory cards for both PS2 AND PS1.

The PS3 crashed at E3...HAHAHAHAHA!!! I hope they get their asses in gear. Im getting a little impatient with the release date. I like the specs on the Revolution, but its a waste of technical capability for a console /game company that has a major prob with releasing too many "kiddie" games. So I will continue to wait for the PS 3 and hope it comes out SOON.

I wouldn't say it crashed. There are many things to look forward to, such as the new ripoff controller (innovation, yay! No rumble feature, boo!), the ridiculous graphical power and a couple of the games coming out.
The price is now probably $600 American, with games being between $50-$100, which is just stupid.
I think I'll be hanging onto my PS2 for some time before I move onto the PS3.
