GTA? I mean, Rockstar is good at making this genre, yet many still continue to ****ing say it is too violent. If you don't like it, don't play it.
I doubt that those shootings are in any way related to Gran Theft Auto; yes, thousands of teens below 18 are playing GTA, and ingesting the gore and mature subject matter it displays, and may be getting a few ideas from the games, but if you take a game so seriously that you take a gun and shoot someone just to be like Tommy, then that's sad.
People that go on about Rockstar's games being too violent should just quit it. Seriously </rant>.

Yeah thats true. If you don't like the stuff contained within a game then don't play the game. Thats pretty ridiculous and all- you see a game character do something like shoot someone and to look "cool" you go out and do the same to be like the game character. That is just plain wrong. People that do that shouldn't be playing violent games.
I've been playing violent games ever since I started playing games. My parents don't care what games I play. As long as I can tell the difference between games and reality then I can play whatever game I want. Sure in the game it might be cool to shoot someone and have the police after you. But doing it in real life and having cops after you is terrible.
What you see in games should stay within the game. Don't go imitating video game behavior. If a game character kills thousands of people and police thats ok as long as it stays in the game. Just don't do it in real life.

Yeah it sucks that people have to bash games that they have never even played. The politicians and all say the games are bad and not to play them and blah blah blah. But have they ever played the games? Most likely not. They have heard what the game is about and may have read about it and maybe have seen ads for it on tv. But before you go and trash a game you should at least play the game first before saying if anyone should play it or not.

And now a woman is suing sony for $1 million or so because her son was murdered by a guy who played GTA. Did it ever occur to them that maybe the murderer was mentally unstable? Or was not properly parented? Or had a falling out with the deceased boy? Or watched violent movies?
As a matter of fact, the first game I ever played was Street Fighter, which involed violence and subject matter. The second was Alien Trilogy, which had lots of gore and violence. The third, Resident Evil. Do I kill my peers? No.People should learn that games are not the real culprits, and that perhaps those who play violent games and then commit violent acts are unlike the norm, or have violent problems.

You have a good point there DaBomb. Just cause he played a little grand theft auto for ps2 doesnt mean thats why it happened. It could be that he was mentally unstable. And yeah it could have been a lot of violent movies or anything else that you said. Those are all good reasons. And yes violent video games in general could have caused it too- not just grand theft auto. GTA is not the only violent game out there. There are tons of violent games all of which could contribute to shootings in real life or something similar like that.

Ever seen Bowling for Columbine? Those guys who went into the school with guns, killing multiple people, enjoyed bowling. In fact, before they instigated the Columbine massacre, they went bowling.
Is that the cause? After all, you are practicing your aim with a bullet-shaped ball. And you are trying to smash down all the pins. And doesn't the bowling lane look like a shooting range?
Just an example. Games are as harmless as bowling.
