My brother is part of the Atlanta Young Singers of Callenwoolde. This year, for their Major Tour, they went to Spain. The rest of my family tagged along. I had a great time. However, there's a six hour time difference, so I'm kinda very tired at the moment. I'll be posting more details later.

Okay, now it's too fscking early for me to be awake (I hate the way my body works. I always get up around 8:30 naturaly, and my body-clock's still three hours ahead.) But awake I am, so more details go up.
We flew into Barcellona Saturday afternoon. Arrived Sunday morning. The math works like this: 7 hour flight + 6 hour time difference + 1 hour layover in Paris + .75 hour delay in Paris + 1 hour flight. Just so that you guys know, Chales de Gaulle airport if really fricken incompetent. Anyway, we arrived in Barcellona around 4, and got to our hotel around 5. That day, we waited around, ate dinner, and went to sleep. The next day the Singers had a concert after a Catholic mass. Luckily, the mass was at 8:30 PM. We spent the earlier part of the day touring Barcellona. The Singers had practice after lunch, so me and the rest of my family went to a chocolate museum. Next day. Monday. More touring, and then the Singers sang... Somewhere. I forget. Tuesday we went up to Montserat (or maybe Mont Setat, I don't know) on a day trip. The Singers sang in the church up there, and we got to look around the place. It's pretty neat, although I suspect I'll never know what half the stuff was for. Wendsday we did even more touring. Later, the Singers went to practice for the music festival that was the whole purpose of the trip. The got to practice in a courtyard inside a Jewish museum. Wendsday we hopped on the bus, and spend two hours driving up to Continigros. Once there, the Singers went to register for the festival, and practice, and the rest of the extras got to go to our hotel. We ended up staying in a nice little city named Vic. Around 5:30, we got picked up to head off to the festival. There, we got to hear a lot of diffent types of singing. We also got to see a few dances. For the rest of the trip, we spent almost all of our time at the festival, so that's about all I have to say, unless you want me to go into specifics on the choirs/dance groups.
Okay, that being said, I still need to point out two groups. First off, there was the Kitchner Waterloo Philharmonic Youth Choic there from Canada. Second, there was the Kurdish Folk Dance group from London, England. We found the latter quite funny. As for the former, just thought DB would like to know that his country was well represented.

You mean the latter, right?
Anyway, it sounds like you had a good time.
Did you brother win, or was it an exhibition rather than a competition?

Sounds fun. I'd like to see Spain sometime. I've been to Portugal but not Spain.

No, the AYSC never placed higher than fourth. And it was a tie for fourth, out of five. Other than the fact that I doubt that they understood how our music was supposed to be sung, I believe that they were very opposed to giving the one American choir any awards.

Same thing. Probably less detail though. And it is a lot less broken up.
