Leaving in a few hours to go up to New York. Tonight its a big cookout and then sleeping at a hotel for the night. Tomorrow its a big wedding for someone (over 350 people). Then maybe coming back home saturday, or perhaps staying an extra night at the hotel and coming back sunday. It's undecided.
But kid is going up to the big city. Heh heh heh

Well im back. We got back around midnight. Most of the food we ate were the appetizers. Otherwise known as their cocktail hour. From about 6 to 7 pm. They had quite a bit of food and some which I would not classify as an appetizer. But they had lots of meats and cheeses, some pasta salad, a greek type salad, seafood salad (pretty good actually even though there was squid (I think) and some other stuff in it like scallops, not sure what else). They had roast beef and turkey. Some kind of chicken, there was rice, Fried Calimari (aka squid), baked ziti, lasagna, a few other things. And a bunch of fruit, Watermelon, cantelope, grapes, kiwi, pineapple. I think with most people by the time they were finished with appetizers noone really wanted the main food.
Then we sat down at the big main tables. They went and introduced the people that were in the wedding as they walked up to an open area. Eventually it came time to eat again. You got a salad which was just like 5 or more types of lettuce. It was alright but the dressing wasnt too good. For the main entree you could have Some kind of Chicken dish, Salmon, or a Filet Mignon like steak. I had the filet mignon (hey its already paid for so free for me is fine). Was pretty good. That came with potatoes and a little sweet potatoes and some asparagus.
During the night I even managed to get some samples of some booze / alcohol. But meh wasnt any good. First off they gave a glass of champagne. I took one tiny sip and BLECH, it was bitter as hell. I didnt try any more and it bubbled for like an hour and a half. I had also tried some red wine, it was just barely better then the champagne but I didnt like it still bitter and my one aunt said it was a Dry red wine. Not sure what that means. Then I had tried some white wine, my aunt said it was still dry, but not as dry as the red wine. I took a sip of the white wine and yuck same results. Still nasty tasting, a little bitter. I had also tried one of my aunts drinks, dont know what it was called, BUT it was a little bit of Vodka mixed with Club soda and lime. Surprisingly that was alright and was kind of sweet tasting. But I didnt go and have a glass of any of it.
They were playing music the whole time. It started off alright but gradually got louder and louder. Basically every time the DJ had a drink, the music volume went up. Someone asked him to turn it down, he turns it up to at least double the volume. Eventually the music was so loud you couldnt hear ANYTHING anyone said to you. A few people said something to me but I couldnt hear cause of the too damn loud music. It you wanted to say something at all you had to scream at the top of your lungs and IF you were very LUCKY the other person might here you. Even the person right next to you, you had to scream in their ear and hope they could here over the music. We had to leave early, we missed the wedding cake. None of us could stand the loud music. On top of that most of it was spanish or latin music or something. Whatever, you couldnt understand the music and it was too loud.
Still it was alright until they turned the music on. Putting my fingers in my ears didn't help at all and I could still hear too much of the music. Had no earplugs and the music was so loud I seriously doubt earplugs would have helped.

I tried champagne by accident at my uncles wedding when I was quite young (around 7 I think) and I spat it all out over the table. It was embarassing! I agree kid, champagne is quite bitter!
Glad you got to enjoy some food though.
