DB smashed open the glass case of several fire extinguishers and dispersed them among the group. The flames from the grenade launcher were stubborn and spread quickly, but they were finally engulfed in extinguisher foam before any more harm could be done. Battlemeister sprayed several scratches with a first aid spray while the others reloaded their smoking weapons and caught their breath.
It was now a question of which door to go through. There was no sense in going back, seeing as they had checked every drawer, desk, cabinet and vault for ammunition, and had most likely exhausted the ammo suply in that area. So, the group of 5 humans were forced to decide where to go next.
Kid had been browsing through a bookcase when one particular book fell to the burned floor. It appeared to be a monotonous writing about cell structure or something, but inside kid found a hand-drawn map of the nearby corridors, and the message "Get yourself ot of there," scrawled in the corner.
DB: We've inspected the surrounding area. The corridors leading from the 3 doors do not intersect.
BM: Which does a fat lot of good.
Commando: One lead to a kind of lab. The next a ballroom of some sorts - probably a social area for the scientists.
Jill: And the last led downwards. I couldn't see where, though.
Kid (Showing the map) Well, according to this, we are near a laboratory, a social area and an emergency access/exit corridor. I think the real question we should be asking is "what are our goals?"
DB: Plant 42. We can't let that...thing live.
BM: Wasn't that where we came from?
Commando: We don't know. We were knocked out and stuck in an arena. We don't know where it is.
Jill: Well, I don't know about you, but I'd like to get the hell out of here.
BM: I thought we agreed to fight these monsters!
Jill: There isn't enough ammo! We'll be killed!
DB: Why stay? We could just alert the army and let them kill these biological freaks.
BM: Yeah, let's take the coward's way out, DB.
DB: It's the logical and intelligent way out, BM.
Commando: There isn't enough time. The virus will escape into the city!
Kid: And what about the prison? That was where the major human experiments took place.
BM: Aren't we forgetting about Chris? And Lynx? And Wesker? And maybe there are more innocent people in here that we should save!
DB: Every man for himself. It's dog eat dog.
Commando: Or monster eat us.
Kid: Guys, guys. If we are going to survive, we have to act as a team. I think we should find a way out as fast as we can, while collecting as much information as possible and helping anyone we find. As for Chris and Lynx....
BM: ...and Wesker.
DB: Wesker betrayed us. He deserves to die.
Commando: He deserves something worse than death.
Jill: Wesker was a friend and a good leader. I'm sure he had his reasons. Maybe he was coerced.
Kid: How about this: we inspect the lab through door one, to collect as much information we can-
BM: -why? There are more urgent matters!
DB: So we can learn to kill these things or maybe reverse the process, fool!
Kid: Yes. But we also have a duty to help those in need, so we will begin searching for allies.
Jill: Erm...when do we escape? I'd like to get out of here.
Kid: That emergency corridor most likely leads to an exit. It was probably meant for the scientists to have a route from the mansion if there was an outbreak.
DB: Fair enough.
Commando: To the lab, then.
The group strolled through door one, and into the lab - the heart of the Resident Evil.

McCann was slumped in the corner against the wall, a 9mm in his hand and a 2-way radio in his hand. His legs were badly bitten, his arm hanging by a thread after a hunter's slash and his heartbeat slowing. He could feel that he was chaging into one of those creatures, but he would never let that happen. He'd kill himself before becoming a zombie.
He heard footsteps and a conversation; in response McCann raised his 9mm and tried to aim. Command wass the first to enter the lab, and was greeted by a bullet that narrowly missed his face. McCann fired again, but his accuracy was low due to injury. The bullets missed, and finally the clip ran out.
"Who are you!" McCann shouted, "Don't come any closer!"
"We mean no harm," Commando replied, "And you, sir, are in no position to make demands."
"Stay away!"
Jill walked over to him. "We are human. We can help you," she reasoned. BM tossed her a First aid spray, and she gave it to the injured McCann.
"Get back! All of you!" McCann shouted. It was obvious he was too distraught to understand. it wasn't surprising, really.
"He's worthless," kid groaned, "Just give him a gun and let's get moving."
DB walked over to the injured human and pressed a Beretta into his temple. "Look, start talking or you'll never get out of here."
"Why waste a bullet on me?"
"What do you mean?" kid blurted out.
"I'd love for you to pull the trigger. But ammo is scarce now, and using up bullets for an immobalized human is a waste," McCann retorted.
"What?" Commando asked.
"The scientists took all the ammo when they tried to escape," McCann laughed. He began to cough, suddenly, harder and harder, until his eyes closed and he stopped breathing.
***
A search of the lab revealed much horror. In one corner were live animals, such as rabbits, mice and frogs, all of which were slowly turning into monstrosities. In another corner were storage bays for the T-Virus, as well as several larger test subjects who looked like humans, only with no skin.
BM investigated the computers, and found a log entry:
Day Two. Test subjects beginning to show signs of accelerated growth, uncontrollable anger and a taste for flesh. 3 of the 5 rats have been eaten by each other.
Day 3. Their skin is rotting, and there are no traces of fur on the rats. The frogs appear to respon at a slower rate to the treatment.
Day 4. Findings from the prison have been intruiging. The humans have proved quick to mutate and have already grown a taste for flesh.
Day 5. The human subjects appear to carry infective qualities. One prisoner guard was bitten, and has begun to mutate.
Day 6. It took 17 hours for the guard to fully mutate. By now the others have fully transformed.
It was shocking news: it took a mere 17 hours to find a cure for the T-Virus after being bitten, or 2 days if injected with the virus. Every member of the group had been bitten, and now had only a few hours to find a cure.

They stood, dumfounded and bone-pale, reading the log entries. 17 hours. Perhaps less. After braving all these monsters, and saving themselves time and again, they would succumb to their only weakness: the disease itself.
BM - Shit, man, we gotta get a cure!
DB - (Sarcastically) Great advice, padre.
Commando - Is there is hospital? Or something in this place?
BM - We gotta get moving!
***
An hour, it took, probably more, to locate the correct book. The cure was in there, or at least how to synthesize it, but they would still have to create it. The labs were only a few corridors away, but they found zombies patrolling those areas, in need of human flesh.
They wanted to blast apart the zombies quickly, but McCann's warning sent a chill down their spine. There wasn't much ammo left. Enough for the pack of zombies in the hall, but not enough for what lay after that...

The new information was helpful and somewhat startling. No more ammo? The team would have to conserve what little ammo they had left and only fire their weapons when they needed too. Perhaps there was more ammo in the place well hidden and if there was kid and his team would find it. And even if there was more theyd have to conserve it more. And there was certainly more zombies and other gruesome enemies then there were bullets and ammo.
They had to get by the pack of zombies in the hall but how? Shooting them would waste their ammo and trying to run by them was out of the question as the zombies stood too close to each other so someone would get grabbed and bitten. The team would have to fight but maybe they didn't have to waste so much ammo. Kid still had his grenade launcher he found in the other lab and he still had a single explosive grenade left. It would have to do.
The team walked through the first door down the corridor and approached the zombies. They were all standing in different areas but all the zombies were standing close enough so that one well placed grenade would kill them all or severely injure them. Kid loaded the last grenade into the launcher and raised the Grenade Launcher. He waited carefully for the moment and when a zombie moved out of the way kid fired the grenade. It flew several feet forward then impacted in the ground. It let out a loud large BOOM as it detonated and took out the zombies. Luckily kids aim was dead on- all the zombies in the hall were dead and the team still had all their ammo save for kids grenade.
They continued walking onwards towards the next room or next part of the lab in search of answers. Was the next lab the one they needed in order to find the antidote. The team walked onwards with everyone holding their shotguns. Unfortunatly all but one zombie was dead. As kid walked by he suddenly gasped and fell to the floor. One zombie was alive and as kid walked by it grabbed him and began to moan as it tried to pull kid toward it so that the zombie could eat kids foot. Kid tried to kick it away but the zombie was surprisingly strong and held a firm grip on kids leg.
Kid (screaming) - "Guys help me. One of the zombies is still alive and its got me! It's trying to bite my foot. Quick shoot the thing!"

DB jammed a combat knife into the spine of the zombie, but it ignored the injury and continued to drag kid closer. Commando ripped out his shotgun, and blasted the zombie twice in the head. The skull fell apart, spraying blood over kid's pants. They helped him up, and continued on.
There was another lab, and the chemicals required to make an antidote for the T-Virus. The problem? There was no power. BM checked for a generator somewhere, and determined it was only a few corridors away, though apparently creatures such as the hunters thrived in such areas.
They also found a door, thankfully labeled "armoury". They tried to heave it open, but it was stuck, tight. They all tried pulling it together, but it still wouldn't budge. Either they would have to burn through the metal door with a welder, or they would have to blow it out with some explosives. Unfortunately, none of them had any of that on hands.

Dr. Liu Kang was one of the surviving scientists. He was currently working in the sector that kid's team was in. Most of the other scientists had left. Liu Kang wanted to leave but had to stay to keep an eye on things here. Luckily though he had created a vial of antidote and used one on himself and was so far clean of the virus. He was on a nearby computer when he heard the sounds of people talking and what sounded like people banging on a door trying to get it open.
Liu Kang was nervous that it was that troublesome pack of Crimson head zombies back again. He took his loaded 12 gauge shotgun and walked to the noise. He opened a lab door and he saw a team of around 5 or 6 attempting to open a door.
Kang- "That armory door is shut tight. I know how to open it though."
The team jumped and was startled by the voice. They turned to see a scientist holding a shotgun at them.
Kid- "Whoa lower the gun. Who are you and what are you doing here? Give me a reason why I shouldnt kill you just like the rest of those dumb scientists."
Kang- "Well for one thing I can open that door. I have a welding tool in my office that can get us access to that room full of guns and ammo and health items. Second I know how to make the antidote to the virus. I made a sample several hours ago and used it on myself. Right now I am virus free. But that might not last if "They" come back again."
DaBomb- "So far none of the scientists were useful. We killed them all. I guess we can try to trust you- for now. But if you try to trick us you will die. And you had better show us how to make the antidote once the power gets put back on."
Commando- "Yeah we were bitten once like 2 hours ago but we arent feeling any viral effects yet. Thats why we need that antidote soon before its too late."
Kid- "Ok seems legit for now. By the way what is this "They" you speak of? You seem terrified of something in this mansion? A pack of zombies or something?"
Kang- "Yes. Mutated ones though. Crimson head zombies. Their heads are a bright crimson red color. They are lightning fast and once they spot you your in trouble. They have great power and one bite can be fatal. Worse these guys can spit acid and also open doors and are more intelligent. There has been a pack of crimson heads. I think five- maybe more. They seem to keep hanging out around this area. But with you guys we might be able to kill them."
Kid- "Well we dont have much ammo but once we get into that armory things will change hopefully."
Liu Kang went over to his office and came back with the welding tool. There wasn't much fuel left for it but it was enough to force the door open. Liu Kang went over to the door and turned on the welding tool and went to work. About five minutes later he had the door open and the team of soldiers, including Liu Kang, stepped into the armory to see what was in the room.

The armoury was vast, and packed tightly with well-organized weapons, ammunition crates, packs of hand grenades and even a few home-made weapons. The team zealously searched the room, taking what they needed (and most often what they didn't), as if they were kids in a candy store.
On the shelf of the home-made weapons was a simple note, directing the reader to use the weapons if needed. It appeared a scientist had stowed the weapons away for a loved one before he left, though why was still a mystery.
Kid - I can't believe our luck!
DB - Finally, a new set of Uzi clips.
Commando - Try not to weight yourselves downm guys. We can always come back here.
BM - What about the virus?
LuiKang - I can whip up the formula within a few moments, when the power is reinstated.
Jill - Then what are we waiting for?
Their backpacks were stuffed with small arms and explosives, save for Jill, who decided to carry around a battery and several keycards, as she had not been so easily wooed by the weapons that surrounded her.
They moved toward the generator, checking every shadow for an enemy, and were startled at what hey saw. There were multiple crimson head zombies - a dozen at least - and behind them agile hunters patrolling the staircase. Up above, climbing on the ceiling were more disfigured creatures, waiting to pounce.

Luckily though the team had been quiet and were in the shadows so none of the crimson head zombies noticed the team despite their enhanced senses. Suddenly as they carefully moved forward an old floorboard let out a loud creak.
Suddenly everyone froze up. Unfortunatly the zombies noticed this and turned around. Upon seing humans the zombies began to run at the team. For a zombie the crimson heads had amazing speed. They weren't as fast as the humans but were close but they were twice as fast as normal zombies.
Battlemeister chucked a grenade at the zombies. The grenade landed on the floor but somehow the zombies knew of the danger and scattered. Only one zombies was killed in the blast. The team quickly opened fire with their assortment of weapons- Shotguns, Uzi's and more. Yet it was a pretty even battle. The crimson head zombies steadily made progress in their attempt to catch the team of humans. Unfortunatly by now the Hunters decided to join in the battle and they began to run behind the zombies as if waiting for their chance to attack.

The crimson heads were within reaching distance now, preventing the use of explosives or grenades. On zombie latched onto kid's arm and attempted to drag his victim toward the horde, but was blown back by a shotgun blast. Blood splattered everywhere, reducing the group of zombies with each passing second. Suddenly Jill was pulled to the floor by a zombie and Commando was grabbed on the leg by another. BM was next to be grabbed, then DB and finally kid. Hands grabbed at them, trying to rip of pieces of flesh while sharp teeth were revealed, and saliva trickled from the mouths of the zombies.
BM managed to subdue his target by stabbing it in the head with a knife, and then released DB from the grasp of another zombie. They cleared away the remaining crimson heads, taking minor damage, only to find a fresh group waiting behind the group of hunters.

Kid had managed to arm his grenade launcher and load it with a fire grenade. He aimed at the group of crimson heads and fired. The grenade hit the group of zombies setting the group of 6 crimson heads on fire. They let out loud moans as their flesh started falling off because of rapid burn wounds. The hunters for some reason got confused and ran forward to attack kid and his team. Fortunatly for kid's team the hunters ran into the zombies lit on fire and the hunters themselves also got caught on fire and began to burn.

In anger and pain the hunters leaped toward their targets, absorbing bullets, until they collapsed in a green pool of blood. DB grabbed a samurai sword from a nearby desk, helped Commando up, and then they continued on.

After dispatching the hunters and crimson heads the team moved onwards. For several minutes they encountered no enemies but they kept their guard up anyways. Several times they heard the growls and moans of hungry zombies but they never found any yet.
As they walked down the hallway they were in they came across a cabinet and decided to investigate it quickly. Inside one drawer was a box of shotgun shells and a first aid spray. The second drawer had a box of Uzi ammo and a green herb. The third drawer had a red herb, a blue herb, and a green herb and a single grenade. The team again split up the ammo evenly depending on who needed it the most. Kid took the grenade and loaded it into the launcher to prepare it for later in case an explosion was necessary. Jill still decided to be the team medic as she held onto the herbs that were found. She also had a baretta 9mm handgun and since she didn't have that much ammo she also took the box of baretta ammo.
After taking everything the team moved onwards down the hallway which seemed to go on and on forever. They still encountered no enemies. It was getting weird and creepy. They had encountered no zombies for the past 20 minutes and were getting worried. Maybe they killed all the zombies in the mansion but everyone believed that was false. Everytime they thought they were gone there were more enemies. Then again everyone was worried about what they would eventually find up ahead. Would they find an exit or a giant pack of zombies? An exit was preferred by everyone but finding it now was highly unlikely. It was probable that they'd just find more zombies again.

They came to a set of double doors, promting Kid to open them. He tugged and grunted, but they refused to move. DB and Commando helped, but the door refused to budge. So, they took the only other door, which led them into a small dorm room, decorated with a bookcase and a desk. Jill opened up the desk, and found a clip of submachine gun ammo, a weapon that no one posessed. Commando entered the bathroom, and screamed.
"Watch out!" he called. There were numerous gunshots.
"Commando!" Kid yelled back. He entered the bathroom, and found Commando standing over 2 dead zombies.
Commando reloaded his shotgun. "Sorry, they caught me by surprise."
Jill called to them, apparently after seeing a hidden door. "It's behind this bookcase," she explained.
The bookcases were moved, revealing a single door. The group went through, and found horrifying spiders inside. 2 boss spiders were in one corner, 13 minute spiders stood in the other and 4 normal ones were on the ceilng. Jill tried to pull open the door they had come through, but if refused to open. DB spotted another door to the other side of the room, but that was guarded by the two boss spiders.

Argh. I hate spiders. kid groaned.
He reached into his backpack and searched through it quickly. He still had hte flamethrower that he had found a while ago and the tank of fuel connected to the weapon was about 25% full. Luckily kid had an extra container of flamethrower gas ammo. Wanting to rid the area of spiders quickly he accepted the 25% ammo and didn't take the time to load up the other canister. He stood a as far away as he could from the spiders and fired a few short bursts of flames at the small baby spiders that were scurrying towards the team of humans. They caught fire quickly and burned to death shortly after. The boss spiders were apparently mad and decided to spit sticky webs at the team but kid burned them out of the air with some fire. He walked forward towards the boss spiders around 2 or 3 feet and fired the rest of the flamethrower fuel at both of the boss spiders. They caught fire really quick and around a minute later they fell over dead and soon turned to ash. Kid fired the last bit of the fuel at the dead spiders and ash to be sure they were dead. He then took off the now empty canister of fuel and put in in his backpack thinking that he could find more fuel later. He grabbed the full container of flamethrower fuel and attached it to the flamethrower which was now ready to go. He decided to put the safety on and turn the weapon off and put it in his backpack. He took out his Shotgun and the team walked over to the door that was guarded by several spiders. Kid pulled the handle and the team walked into the next room ready to face whatever dangers were in the area.
Off in the distance they could hear the howls and growls of the cerberi zombie dogs. The zombie dogs had a keen sense of smell even better then live real dogs. By now the zombie dogs picked up the scent of the humans a while ago and were probably on the way to find freash meat to eat.

"Ah crap," Commando grunted upon hearing a pack of dogs in the distance, "I'm bloody sick of this place."
DB whipped out his shotgun, and began to blast the incoming dogs along with his team. Unfortunately, though, there were 3 pathways, and dogs were pouring in from those 3 walkways. Jill unloaded a clip of 9mm Beretta onto one hellhound dog, but was quickly pounced on by one dog, which quickly closed its jaws around her shoulder and began to rip apart her flesh. BM whirled around, and shot the dog before it killed Jill, only to be scratched feom behind and knocked to the floor. Kid pulled out his flamethrower and let loose...

It was dangerous to use the flamethrower in such a small confined area. Kid didn't want to accidentally set his allies on fire but when he saw an opening he shot a small plume of flame at the cerberi dogs which caught fire and soon their flesh burned off and eventually all that was left was their bones which soon crumbled and fell over harmlessly due to the extreme temperature of the flamethrowers gas and fire. Two dogs tried to jump kid from behind but he heard them coming and quickly turned around and sprayed them with some fire.
Several dogs were left but they were quickly exterminated with a few swift shotgun blasts. Unfortunatly the team heard what sounded like more growls and dogs off in the distance. Not wanting to waste more ammo they ran off down the right hallway just a short ways since it was quiet and no howls or barking was coming from that area. They came upon several options which were to go and hide in the door on the right, the door on the left or keep running straight ahead. Running ahead would be useless since the dogs were faster and would eventually catch up. Kid tried the door on the left but unfortunatly it was locked and refused to budge open. He grabbed the handle on the rightside door and opened it. It promplty opened and everyone ran inside and kid quickly slammed the door shut and locked it. Wanting more defense for now the team looked for objects to place in front of the door to stop the dogs from getting in just in case they detected the humans inside of the room. There was a pretty big china closet filled with expensive china ware and dishes and bowls and plates and it lookwed sturdy enough to DaBomb and Commando moved it in front of the door. Hopefully the dogs wouldn't be able to break through the cabinet and door if they somehow detected the humans which would be likely due to their strong noses and smelling skills.
The team decided that they could rest for a bit having found a medium sized room. Of course there were two other doors in the room but the team would worry about those later and wait until they regained some of their strengh. Several of the team members decided to search the room for supplies and ammo or anything that would be useful in their mission.

While BM healed Jill, and Commando guarded the door, the others searched the room for supplies. Kid found only a herb, while DB wasn't able to find any ammo. Apparently the scientist wasn't lying; the others had escaped with all the ammo.
There weere scratching sounds on the door, and low growls when the door refused to move. "They're coming!" Commando said.
"Fine. Which way should we go?" Kid asked.
More scratches were heard. "I don't think they can break through," DB said, "But I say we should take the left door jus in case."
The team nodded, and went through.

They decided to leave through the left door. Before leaving though kid spotted something under a cabinet in the room. As he inspected it he found that it was a clip of baretta ammo. Perhaps the scientists did not take all the ammo but only took some or most of it and only leaving ammo in a few rare, scarce locations. Not wanting to waste time deciding who keeps the ammo kid put it in his pocket and figured he'd keep it or give it away later.
DaBomb opened the left door and they found a small corridor up ahead with another door at the end. Everyone ran down the corridor and stopped at the door. DaBomb put his ear to the door just to listen for any sounds on the other side. Upon hearing nothing he determined it was safe and he opened the door and everyone walked in. Battlemeister was the last one in and after entering he locked the door behind him.
They now found that they were in a warm cozy little room. It was probably the living quarters of someone maybe one of the scientists. In one corner was a fireplace which was still lit burning several giant logs. The heat was nice and the team assumed they were safe. There was also a cabinet in the room but it had a small lock on it which probably could be smashed open. The cabinet probably contained a small cache of weapons and ammo as the team needed supplies and after hearing that the scientists took all the ammo, finding any supplies at all was a welcome sight.
Jill for some reason didn't feel comfortable in the room. She felt that they were in some sort of danger but Commando assured her that they were safe. If something were to happen they could exit through the door in the room that led to who knows where. They wouldn't go back down the door and corridor they came through just in case the dogs managed to break through which was highly unlikely that they would break down the first door, the cabinet, the second door, and then run down the hall and break the third door. Jill was sitting on a comfy chair when she looked down at the bed in the room and noticed something. Even though there were clothes and blankets on the floor she saw what looked like a hand- that of a zombies, under the clothing. Hopefully it was dead but if it was alive it would be soon dead anyways.
Theres a zombie under the bed. Look down there near that red T-shirt. See that hand thats not human it has to be a zombie. Jill whispered to everyone else while pointing at the hand.

The group immediately leaped up from their chairs and pulled out their weapons. They surrounded the bed quietly, and prepared to shoot. BM suddenly ripped the bedclothes from the matress, revealing a live zombie. It grabbed BM by the throat and knocked Jill to the floor before multiple bullets sliced through his head. BM regained his breath while the team inspected the corpse. Apparently the zombie had been trying to hide, but its low brain capacity had hindered its efforts.

The zombie got finished off quickly but it died within seconds. DaBomb decided to look under the bed and there he saw several boxes. He pulled them out and opened up the boxes. One had a few boxes shotgun shells and UZI rounds. The second box contained a small handgun designed to fire tranquilizer darts, as well as 4 boxes of the tranquilizer darts. The third box had a sawn off shotgun in it, as well as a box of shells, a first aid spray, green herb, and a hand grenade. Perhaps the scientists took most of the ammo and weapons when they left but they couldn't carry everything. There were probably several hidden ammo caches hidden throughout the mansion which probably contained a weapon or two, some ammo and health items. Of course the team did need the supplies so they divided up the items evenly. Kid took the sawn off shotgun and put his other weapons in his backpack. He also took a box of shells and a green herb which went in his backpack for later. After everyone took what they wanted they thought about where to go now. They were still in the small room and there were two doors. One which was still barricaded from earlier, and another door which they had yet to enter.
After everyone decided that they were ready they walked over to the door in the corner and commando opened the door.
