I don't play any online RPGs (save for one) mainly because most require a monthly fee to play. It's understandable since the fees go towards maintenance of the servers and stuff like that. I do currently play one MMORPG. Puzzle Pirates. You are a pirate and the games you play in this game are puzzles. You can go pillaging and sailing and defeating brigands (computer ships) and if you win you get poe (pieces of eight aka gold) and sometimes some items. It's a pretty fun game. You get a free month to play on subscriber oceans after that its pay to play at either monthly, 3 months, or yearly. There are doubloon oceans which you can always play on for free, but you wont get any features. You must either buy doubloons or save up poe and trade them for doubloons. If you get enough doubloons you can use them to get new features (temporarily) like being able to play all the parlor games for a month, instead of being limited to only playing certain games on certain days, and buying passes that let you increase your rank in crews.

I've played Runescape, and Maple Story (free, not listed). Both sucked. The only one of these that I've heard anything really good about is WoW, World of Warcraft. It gets my vote for this reason, and because Warcraft 3 rocks so much.

I don't play MMORPG's but Ive heard some good reviews about the world of warcraft, and I was thinking of picking it up myself.
